COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMS

 

AHEC-SW BREAST CARE (ABC) EDUCATION PROGRAM

 

The ABC Education Program educates men and women on the importance of early detection of breast cancer through monthly self-exams and mammograms. DEQUEEN MINORITY CARE CLINIC

The DeQueen Minority Care Clinic helps meet the needs of underserved & uninsured residents of DeQueen, AR. Two Nurse Practitioners, a RN and a Community Health Worker see patients two Saturdays a month. The clinic provides primary basic care, helping to ease the burden of individuals going to the Emergency Room needing only minor care. DIABETIC EDUCATION & SUPPORT

Diabetes
is an all-too common chronic disease in today’s society. Through the use of a certified diabetic educator, UAMS AHEC-SW provides one-on-one and group diabetic education. Diabetic education support groups are held on a weekly basis at UAMS AHEC-SW. In addition, our diabetic educator and health educator provides community presentations to provide up-to-date information on diabetes care and management.
